Job summary

Petco is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join the Vetco Total Care hospital team in a full-time on-site role. You will work closely with veterinarians to deliver high-quality patient care while providing exceptional customer service to pet owners.

The position requires at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary setting, excellent communication, and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• College- or college-equivalent education required for credentialing as a Veterinary Technician.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients and escort to exam rooms; obtain vitals and history.
• Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint, collect samples, dispense medications, and maintain records.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, manage inventory and records.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments, administer medications, and assist with patient care.
• Train new staff and maintain a clean, organized hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk and support as needed.
