Precious Paws Animal Hospital in Southaven, MS is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care. You will monitor hospitalized pets, maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, and assist with routine in-house lab work and minor surgical procedures.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Basic math for medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Strong communication for client safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Take histories, vitals, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-house laboratory tests.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals as needed.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments under supervision.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and assist with lab areas.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members to plan patient care.
