Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Two year Associate's Degree preferred from regionally accredited college/university with emphasis in mathematics, reading, writing and content knowledge and 2.5 GPA.
• Applicants with less than AA degree must pursue degree during employment; upon earning, eligible for promotion to teacher assistant.
• ETTP course completion and dated certificate required for promotion to teacher assistant.

Responsibilities

• Follows all rules, policies, and procedures of OCS and state/federal regulations pertaining to school issues and EC Program.
• Assists in classroom/student management and maintaining discipline.
• Assists students with gross motor activities (grasping, crawling, walking, running, holding objects, etc.).
• Assists students with fine motor activities (playing with toys, cutting, coloring, etc.).
• Assists students with dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene and other tasks students cannot perform.
• Assists students with mobility and basic communication skills.
• Maintains and uses instructional equipment; assists therapists and other specialists.
• Records student behavior, progress, and related data; monitors safety and well-being.
• Supports supervision during drills, assemblies, field trips, lunch, recess, and other activities; may serve as bus monitor.
