Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children Personal Care Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year at Queens Creek Elementary in Swansboro, NC. The role supports teachers and therapists in daily activities and provides intimate care for students with disabilities.

The position requires a high school diploma (AA preferred) and entails responsibilities from mobility support to behavior documentation, with a 10-month term and salary Grade 53. EO E.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; AA degree preferred with emphasis in math, reading, writing and content knowledge.
• ETTP course completion and dated certificate required for promotion to teacher assistant.
• Applicants may pursue the AA degree during employment to become eligible for promotion.

Responsibilities

• Follows district rules, policies, and procedures and adheres to state and federal regulations.
• Assists in classroom and student management and maintaining discipline.
• Assists students with gross motor activities (grasping, crawling, walking, running, etc.).
• Assists students with fine motor activities (cutting, coloring, etc.).
• Assists with dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Monitors student safety and well-being in all school areas.
• Records student behavior and progress as required.
