Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools in Richlands, NC seeks an Exceptional Children Personal Care Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. Under general supervision, you will assist teachers and therapists in daily activities supporting children with mental, physical, and emotional disabilities.

Requirements include a high school diploma, AA degree preferred, ETTP certification, and the ability to work 10 months with non-exempt status.

Qualifications

High school diploma required.
AA degree preferred with GPA
If no AA, willing to pursue during employment.
ETTP course/certificate required for promotion.

Responsibilities

Follows district rules and EC program policies.
Assists with classroom management and discipline.
Assists with gross motor activities (grasping, walking, etc.).
Assists with fine motor activities (cutting, coloring).
Assists with dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, and hygiene.
Assists with mobility and basic communication skills.
Maintains instructional equipment; sets up and adjusts as needed.
Assists therapists and other specialists.
Records student behavior, progress, and related data.
Monitors safety and well-being of students in all areas.
Models ethical and appropriate behavior.
Supervises during drills, lunch, field trips; serves as bus monitor if applicable.
Performs other duties as required.
