Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to join our West Side schools. Under the supervision of a Special Education teacher, you will support students with various disabilities and assist with daily living skills per IEPs.

You'll help reinforce instruction, provide tutoring, assist with hygiene, mobility equipment, and supervise students during activities and field trips. A valid ISBE paraprofessional license is required or obtainable after 60 college credits.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional license from ISBE or equivalent.
• Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and basic math.
• Ability to work with students with various disabilities; CPR training desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and reinforce IEP goals under supervision.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist in using tools and equipment to aid lessons and daily living skills.
• Maintain records of student behavior and participate in class activities.
• accompany students on field trips and assist teachers with mobility needs.
