Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Louisiana seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients. The RT-CRT sets up, monitors, and weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation; draws and reports ABGs and EKGs; and delivers therapy per physician orders.

Requires Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), current RT license, NBRC RRT, BLS; ACLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC RRT) certification.
• BLS certification required; ACLS obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Proficient with Windows-based applications and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides age-appropriate care across neonatal to geriatric populations.
• Adapts communication and care to the patient population.
