Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Louisiana is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for patients from neonatal to geriatric.

The role includes drawing, analyzing and reporting arterial blood gases, delivering therapy, and assisting with airway management in accordance with policies. Licensure, NBRC RRT certification, and BLS/ACLS within 90 days are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• ABMS NBRC certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• BLS and ACLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of patient served.
• Adapts communication and care to the patient population (neonate to geriatric).
