Job summary

AlmaVia of San Francisco is seeking a compassionate Resident Assistant/Caregiver to support residents with dementia and daily living activities. Shifts include morning, afternoon, and overnight, with on-call, part-time, and full-time options.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• 6 months+ in long-term care, home care or related field preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience with seniors or be a current CNA.
• Knowledge of older adults, aging process and dementia care.
• Working knowledge of computers and typing to use computerized Point of Care systems.
• Effective English verbal and written communication skills.
• Current First Aid Training and CA Title 22 regulations.
• Background check, drug screen, TB test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care and services to residents with dementia per plans and philosophy of care.
• Helps residents with ADLs including bathing, grooming, dressing, bathroom assistance and light housekeeping.
• Provides meal and activity escort—walking, wheelchair or walker.
• Documents care through electronic charting.
• Communicates with residents about their needs.
• Assists with hair care, oral hygiene, skin care and mobility with compassion.
• Monitors nourishment and supports meals and snacks.
• Observes and reports changes in resident condition.
• Uses computerized system to document resident status and services.
• Maintains clean and orderly living areas; handles laundry and housekeeping tasks.
• Reports equipment or supply needs to the Resident Care Director.
• Ensures proper care of equipment and supplies.
• Documents personal supplies used for resident care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
