Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking Positive Support Specialists to join our Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) program on a part-time basis, with potential to move to full-time. You’ll help individuals with complex medical, behavioral, and mental health needs in home and community settings, focusing on safety, goals, and meaningful activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; degree in relevant field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience with people with complex needs; 3–5 years preferred.
• Must be able to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods; ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background check and have a driver’s license; Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to be more independent in essential life skills (meal prep, personal hygiene, community navigation).
• Advocate for individuals in areas such as rights, medical care, and community involvement.
• Complete required documentation and record-keeping every shift.
• Manage crisis situations safely; training in Positive Behavioral Supports and restraints where required.
• Engage in trauma-informed care daily.
