Responsibilities include collecting specimens, maintaining clean draw stations, complying with infection control and Medicare/ABN guidelines, and communicating test orders to clients. This role requires certification, patient empathy, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certificate and license if applicable.
• Ability to proficiently perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Evaluative and interpretive skills to assess specimens.
• Adaptability to rapidly changing conditions in the work environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy professionally, competently and with compassion for the patient.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for staff and patients; handle specimens per policy.
• Ensure requisitions contain patient info, diagnosis, insurance, physician data, and legible codes.
• Review Medicare ABN requirements and LMRS/NCD policies when needed.
• Complete MSP forms where required and ensure proper documentation.
• Accurately collect all specimens to fulfill lab orders.
• Provide clear communication to clients about test ordering.
• Keep the draw station stocked and clean on a daily basis.
• Inform Operations Supervisor daily about performance, concerns and schedule.
• If located in a physician's office, focus on specimen collection for sending to the lab.
