Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the Fairfield Hospital Laboratory. You will draw quality blood samples from patients, prepare specimens for testing, and complete clerical duties to maintain department efficiency.

Essential functions include greeting patients, proper specimen collection, data entry, and assisting with inventory and phones. A High School degree is required; phlebotomy certification preferred but not required; travel to off-site locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not required.
• One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide courteous customer service.
• Collect specimens according to procedures and ensure proper processing.
• Accurately identify patients and match to the service requested.
• Handle data entry and processing of specimens (labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing).
• Perform clerical duties (inventory checks, stocking, answering phones).
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
