Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Phlebotomy team member to collect and process specimens, ensuring accurate labeling, accessioning, and handling of samples. The role involves daily routine lab duties and close collaboration with couriers and clinicians.

Holidays and shift details apply; the position offers a signing bonus in some cases and a stable full-time schedule in a busy hospital lab setting.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; familiarity with data entry and/or word processor and medical terminology.
• Experience with data entry and basic computer applications is preferred.
• In some cases substitutions of education/experience may apply in lieu of specific certifications.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens from couriers and checks manifests.
• Logs and assigns accession numbers to specimens and requisitions.
• Sorts and triages specimens to the correct workstation; completes manifests.
• Answers phones and communicates pertinent information; uses pneumatic tube system.
• Processes specimens including centrifugation, labeling, and handling.
