Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Petersburg, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to assist with basic patient care under RN supervision. The role emphasizes compassionate support, accurate vital signs, and patient comfort in a Med Surg unit.

Qualifications

• Nursing aide training or equivalent completed.
• BLS certification preferred; must be obtained prior to direct patient care.
• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health, hospice, or long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to patients, family, visitors, and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information upon arrival and departure.
• Mobilizes patients using safe transfer techniques and encourages independence.
• Personalizes care based on patient interests and abilities.
