Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Med Surg Unit at West Hospital. The role provides basic patient care, supports the nursing staff, and ensures patient comfort while documenting care and reporting changes.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to provide basic patient care and support under RN supervision.
• Recent acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including care, comfort, vital signs, personal care, and mobility support.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information at shift changes and handoffs.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilizes patients using safe transfer techniques and promotes independence.
• Encourages patients to participate in tasks as much as possible.
• Individualizes care based on patient interests and activities.
