Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Med Surg unit at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. The role involves basic patient care, vital signs monitoring, and assisting with daily activities under RN supervision.

Ideal candidates have recent acute care experience, nursing aide training or equivalent, and BLS. EPIC EHR training is preferred, with a strong focus on compassionate, patient-centered care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician offices, home health, or long-term care preferred.
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program or equivalent required.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred or to be obtained prior to direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including hygiene, feeding and mobility support.
• Monitors patient health, vital signs, and reports changes to RN.
• Acts as liaison between patients and nursing staff to communicate needs.
• Delivers high-quality customer service to patients, families and staff.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Assists with documentation in the EHR and care planning.
• Supports patient safety and mobility through therapeutic transfer techniques.
• Promotes independent patient activities and individualized care.
