Job summary

Virtua’s Ortho Stroke Unit in Mount Holly, NJ seeks a patient care technician to assist with daily living activities and support the care plan under RN/LPN supervision.

You will perform vital signs, basic nursing tasks, phlebotomy and EKGs if certified, and reinforce patient and family education while upholding safety standards and high professional ethics. Strong communication with patients and team is essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic patient care skills and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills with patients and team.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting, mobility and transportation.
• Performs vital signs and point-of-care testing; may perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Communicates changes in patient status to RN/LPN; documents appropriately.
• Reinforces patient and family education on care needs and safety issues.
• Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
