Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Patient Transporter in the Patient Transportation department to accurately and efficiently move patients, wheelchairs, stretchers and related equipment between nursing units and ancillary departments.

You will use transport devices safely, monitor patients for changes, assist with tubes and devices, apply proper body mechanics, and report issues to staff promptly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience in patient transportation services and prior hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to meet CPR for Healthcare Provider, NCI training and safety device requirements.
• Ability to operate flow meters on E-Cylinders and to provide exemplary customer service.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely using approved devices.
• Observe patients for changes and report promptly to staff.
• Handle patient tubes, IVs, and other equipment correctly.
• Transport patients using proper procedures.
• Use body mechanics to transfer and position patients.
• Identify and refer to repairs for transportation equipment.
