Job summary

Summa Health is seeking an Express Transporter/Dispatcher I for the Service Response Center at the Akron City Campus. This PRN role moves patients from rooms to various hospital locations, ensuring safety and comfort while providing friendly companionship.

The ideal candidate will have good physical stamina, strong time-management, and the ability to follow instructions on a handheld device. Healthcare experience is helpful but not required; customer service and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English and perform basic math.
• Healthcare related experience helpful but not required.
• Experience using a handheld iPhone type phone. This device will give instruction about the patient transport. Have customer service and excellent interpersonal skills. Have computer skills to complete mandatory training.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to push/pull all modes of patient transport equipment.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds for moving and lifting patients required.

Responsibilities

• The primary responsibility is to move patients from their rooms to various locations within the hospital.
• During the transport, the employee should ensure that the patient is safe, comfortable and provide them with friendly companionship.
• Communicate with patients in a positive, uplifting manner to improve patient experience during transport.
