Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Kansas is seeking Patient Transporters to move patients safely and compassionately within the facility. You will assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds and ensure equipment is secured during transport.

This frontline role emphasizes safe patient handling, adherence to infection prevention guidelines, and clear hand-off communication with nursing staff to support patient flow and comfort.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous patient care setting experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physically able to lift 35 lbs and push/pull 20 lbs.
• Able to follow safety protocols and infection prevention guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed between departments.
• Ensure proper patient handling with safe body mechanics.
• Secure equipment during transport and maintain cleanliness.
• Identify fall risks and implement fall-reduction strategies.
• Observe patient condition and report changes to the nurse.
• Hand off patient care safely at transitions.
• Maintain transport supplies inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
