Job summary

McCormick's Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a Transportation Driver to move residents to hospitals, clinics, and activities in a safe and professional manner.

You will assist with boarding, seating, securing wheelchairs, and provide courteous service while maintaining logs and completing routine inspections. The role requires a valid Indiana driver’s license, Class C/E as appropriate, and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Active Indiana Driver’s License required.
• Class C license with a passenger endorsement for vehicles which transport 15 or more passengers.
• Class E license for vehicles that transport 14 or fewer passengers.
• No driver under 21 or over 74 as outlined in the insurance requirements.
• DOT compliant physical. Annual physician’s statement for drivers 71–74 who drive 15+ passengers.
• Experience as a bus or van driver preferred.
• Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Writing and computer skills are required for completing reports and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents safely to activities, appointments, and outings.
• Assist residents with boarding, seating, and securing wheelchairs and walkers.
• Maintain resident safety during transit and at vehicle entrances/exits.
• Perform routine vehicle upkeep and pre/post-trip inspections.
• Complete required paperwork and logs; report hazards to supervisor.
• Follow safety, infection control, and policy procedures; use GPS/radio as needed.
• Communicate schedule progress with the facility and receive instructions.
• Other duties as assigned.
