Job summary

Arcadia Care in Illinois seeks a Transportation Driver to safely transport patients to hospitals, medical offices, dialysis centers and private residences, delivering courteous service and assisting residents with boarding, seating, wheelchairs and packages.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, an active Illinois driver’s license (Class C with passenger endorsement for larger crews or Class E for smaller), DOT physical, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Active Illinois Driver’s License required.
• Class C license with passenger endorsement for vehicles which transport 15 or more passengers.
• Class E license for vehicles that transport 14 or fewer passengers.
• No driver under the age of 25 or over the age of 74 as outlined in the insurance requirements.
• DOT compliant physical. Annual physician’s statement for drivers 71–74 who drive vehicles transporting 15+ passengers.
• Experience as a bus or van driver preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Writing and computer skills required for reports and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Provides a high level of customer service while transporting residents to and from activities, appointments and other outings.
• Provides assistance to residents including boarding and leaving the bus, seat belts, securing wheelchairs and walkers, groceries and packages.
• Is responsible for the safety of residents at all times; monitors resident safety on the bus and at buildings.
• Responsible for general upkeep of the vehicle including fueling, preventive maintenance, and delivering the vehicle to service facilities.
• Completes daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintains vehicle cleanliness; completes required paperwork.
• Follows safety procedures and infection control; reports hazards, defective equipment, and accidents to the supervisor.
• Communicates with facility regarding schedule progress and to receive instructions; operates GPS/Two-Way Radio/Cell Phone to navigate.
• Maintains accurate activity and vehicle report logs.
• Other duties as assigned.
