Job summary

Ashley Addiction Treatment in Havre de Grace, MD seeks a full-time Patient Support Associate to join the PCSS team at its inpatient campus. This role blends compassionate patient care with operational duties across attendance, rounds, and tours, supporting safety and therapeutic goals.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (associates or bachelor’s in Human Services preferred), CPR/BLS, and a clean driving record. Prior SUD/behavioral health experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s in Human Services preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Prior experience in SUD or behavioral health setting preferred.
• Recovery Coach and/or CPRS certification preferred.
• Crisis Intervention/de-escalation training/experience preferred.
• Ability to maintain calm within patient community during emergencies.
• Knowledge of recovery pathways (12-step, Peer Recovery, SMART, etc.).
• Sets clear boundaries with patients and acts ethically.

Responsibilities

• Takes accurate attendance and tracks patient participation at scheduled activities.
• Familiar with patient schedules for all programs.
• Knows campus layout including rooms, offices and amenities.
• Performs scheduled rounds of the campus.
• Documents patient lateness and absences as required.
• Safely searches new patient luggage using proper protocols and PPE.
• Inputs/searches items in Personal Effects Form and labels items properly.
• Provides tours and orientation for new admissions.
• Reviews questions about the Patient Handbook.
• Addresses behavioral issues and documents concerns in shift reports.
• Communicates psychiatric/behavioral information to care teams.
• Facilitates and documents clinical groups and interventions as needed.
• Assists with AV equipment, documentation, and department meetings.
• Participates in Crisis Prevention and clinical training sessions.
• Maintains safety and security procedures and supports emergency drills.
• Operates golf carts for patient transport and follows radio etiquette.
• Follows SOPs and department policies.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team functions and ongoing education.
