Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ is seeking a patient care assistant to support doctors and nursing staff in meeting basic patient needs. Daily tasks include feeding, bathing, monitoring vital signs and assisting with mobility.

The role involves teamwork with physicians and nurses, post-mortem care, and performing EKGs and phlebotomy as needed. Strong communication, compassion, and computer literacy are preferred to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Patient, compassionate nature.
• Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses.
• Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, dressing.
• Obtains and records vital signs, weights, and heights.
• Assists patients with mobility: ambulation, transfer, discharges and ROM activities.
• Performs post mortem care.
• Performs EKG's, phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring.
• Observes and reports changes in patients' condition to the RN.
• Maintains phlebotomy equipment and inventory.
• Other related duties as assigned.
