Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, IL is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide basic daily care and support to patients and families. The role includes hygiene assistance, vital signs, mobility, and documentation under the supervision of registered nurses.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, CNA certification or enrollment in a nursing program, and demonstrated communication and critical thinking skills to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA certification or enrollment in an accredited nursing program required.
• Successful completion of the Patient Care Technician orientation.
• Ability to transfer and position patients, up to 35 lbs.
• Strong communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with basic hygiene and daily living activities.
• Provide nursing care appropriate for patient age and development.
• Record vital signs, intake/output, and routine data.
• Assist in transfers and movement of patients and equipment.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient care areas.
