Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide basic daily care to patients and support to their families. You will assist with hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities, while documenting data and following care plans under a registered nurse’s supervision.

The role requires a CNA certification or current enrollment in a nursing program, strong communication, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA Certification or enrollment in accredited nursing program required.
• Successful completion of Patient Care Technician orientation.
• Demonstrates competency in caring for multiple age groups (infants to geriatric).
• Effective communication in verbal, non-verbal and written form.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic daily care to patients and support to families.
• Assist with hygiene, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Record vitals, intake/output, blood glucose, and specimens.
• Document care and procedures in the nursing database.
• Assist in transferring patients and equipment between areas.
• Monitor inventory to ensure bedside supplies.
• Follow the plan of care under the guidance of a registered nurse.
