Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medicine Unit. This full-time, day-shift role runs 7:00 am to 7:00 pm with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends.

The PCT will support nursing staff with patient care, vital signs, ADLs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection. Qualifications include a high school diploma/equivalent and multiple credential options (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic).

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
CNA/NCMA/NCPCT/NCPCT/US Navy Hospital Corps School or EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic credentials accepted.
AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
One year health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
Monitor vitals, mobility and ambulation.
Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing and EKGs.
Assist with IV removal, specimen collection and Foley catheter insertion/removal.
Document patient status and changes accurately for RN supervision.
