Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in an inpatient unit. You will support activities of daily living, monitor vitals, document care, and help maintain a safe, respectful environment for patients and families.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to read and follow instructions, basic math, and good computer skills. Training is provided; CPR certification and background clearances may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must attend 2 weeks of training
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to perform basic mathematics
• Basic computer skills
• Preferred acute care experience within last 3 years
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program; preference for those with clinical rotations completed

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, and documentation of care
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift report and hourly rounding
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff
• Performs unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning; assists with admissions, discharges and transfers
