Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care and assist the Registered Nurse in caring for patients in stable condition on the inpatient unit. You will participate in admissions, discharges and transfers, document care in the EMR, and help maintain a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include performing activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, assisting with mobility, and supporting quality and patient-satisfaction initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write and follow written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Two weeks of training for new hires.
• Acute care experience in last 3 years preferred.
• Enrollment in ASN or BSN program preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Act 34/33/73 FBI background clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vitals, mobility, intake/output).
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and safety protocols.
• Accurately documents vitals, I&O and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
