Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care in an acute setting. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living, collecting vital signs, documenting results, and maintaining a safe, organized care environment.

The PCT will communicate effectively with the care team, assist with mobility and daily tasks, and ensure adherence to infection control and PPE protocols.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program preferred
• Basic knowledge of patient care practices and equipment
• Strong organizational skills and multitasking in fast-paced environments
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety protocols

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in delivering care and maintaining a clean, safe environment
• Collects and records patient data, including vital signs and intake/output
• Supports patients with meals, hygiene, mobility, and activities of daily living
• Assists with patient positioning and use of mobility aids
• Collects urine/stool samples and performs finger-stick glucose monitoring
• Communicates information to the care team and adheres to infection control PPE protocols
• Participates in performance improvement, risk management and safety initiatives
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies and standards
