Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab seeks a Patient Care Technician to support comprehensive patient care duties in a dynamic clinical environment. You will assist with hygiene, mobility, feeding, and daily activities while documenting care in the nursing database and coordinating with registered nurses.

The role requires CNA certification or enrollment, strong communication, and the ability to adapt to evolving patient needs in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA Certification or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program required.
• Orientation to Patient Care Technician program may be required.
• Ability to apply growth and development principles across patient age groups.

Responsibilities

• Performs activities in patient care including routine hygiene, feeding, elimination, mobility, and dressing.
• Performs routine technical tasks: collecting specimens, taking vital signs, tracking intake/output, blood glucose, giving suppositories, intermittent catheterization, bladder volume, gastric feedings, and escorting patients.
• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, and functional data per patient plan of care.
• Orients patient and family to environment, therapies, and safety hazards identified by the RN.
• Incorporates safety factors into care delivery as directed by the RN.
• Implements interventions in line with the plan of care as directed by the RN.
• Observes patients and reports changes to the RN.
• Assists in transferring patients and care equipment to other areas.
• Documents care and other quantitative values in nursing database.
• Assists in monitoring supply needs to ensure adequate bedside inventory.
• Performs all other duties assigned in the best interest of SRAlab.
