Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care activities including hygiene, feeding and mobility in a hospital-like setting. The role requires CNA certification or active enrollment in a nursing program, and orientation completion.

You will collect vital signs, assist with transfers, document care, and monitor supplies, all under RN supervision in a dynamic care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA Certification or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program required.
• Work requires successful completion of the Patient Care Technician orientation.
• Demonstrates competency in applying the growth and development of patients from infant to geriatric.
• Communicates effectively using timely verbal, non-verbal and written communication.
• Proactively takes ownership for serving the customer, team, and organization.
• Willingly adapts to changing work demands and environment.
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills and makes sound judgments to monitor patient needs or changes.
• Anticipates and addresses the needs of patients and others to positively influence patient experience.
• Ability to transfer and position patients, up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs activities in patient treatment and care: hygiene, feeding, elimination, mobility, dressing.
• Performs and records routine tasks: vital signs, specimens, intake/output, glucose, suppositories, catheterization, bladder volume, NG feedings, escorting patients.
• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, and functional data.
• Orients patient and family to environment and safety precautions.
• Implements safety-focused interventions as directed by RN.
• Documents care and quantitative values in nursing database.
• Monitors supply needs to ensure adequate bedside inventory.
• Performs other duties AS assigned in SRAlab.
