Job summary

Mercy Health – Youngstown is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Progressive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. The PCT provides basic patient care, monitors vital signs, and supports nurses while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; must obtain prior to direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital signs, hygiene and mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes/concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents accurately and promptly for patient care.
• Participates in hand-offs and reports for patient/department needs.
• Performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Mobilizes patients using safe techniques to foster independence.
• Encourages patient independence and tailors care to interests.
