Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System in New York City is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support the clinical care team. The role includes assisting the registered nurse with activities of daily living, collecting specimens, and performing routine procedures while maintaining a safe and clean environment.

You will monitor vital signs, document intake/output, and help with mobility, nutrition, and transportation of patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program with venipuncture and EKG skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities with hospital staff.
• 3–9 months healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and exercise good judgment.
• English language proficiency (oral and written).
• Physical stamina and dexterity; able to assist with ADLs.
• AHA Heartsaver or BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient care activities including activities of daily living and vital signs.
• Record intake/output and document data as assigned.
• Perform specimen collection including venipuncture and basic procedures.
• Assist with dietary functions and deliver/collect patient trays.
• Transport patients and assist with discharge processes and bed coordination.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and observe isolation status as required.
• Utilize hospital communication tools and participate in performance improvement activities.
