Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support the clinical care team in a busy New York hospital. The role includes assisting the RN with daily care, performing clinical tasks, documenting vitals, and ensuring patient safety.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma, a Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate certification, and BLS/CPR certification. Prior healthcare experience and strong teamwork are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Certificate/completion of Medical Assistant/Patient Care Assistant program with skills in venipuncture and EKG.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively within the Specialty Service.
• Documentation of Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate training.
• Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and adapt in difficult situations.
• Sufficient English language skills (oral and written).
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity for clinical tasks.
• American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record patient vitals (BP, pulse, temp, resp) and document intake/output.
• Perform specimen collection (blood glucose, venipuncture) and basic procedures.
• Assist RN in activities of daily living and patient mobility.
• Assist with dietary tasks, meal delivery, and nutrition-related orders.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and correct isolation procedures as directed.
• Provide one-on-one observation and ensure patient safety.
• Transport patients and specimens as needed; support discharge processes.
• Answer calls, greet visitors, and maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
