Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System in New York is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support the clinical care team. You will assist the registered nurse with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

The role involves monitoring vital signs, assisting with procedures, transporting patients, delivering trays, and communicating with patients and staff. Strong English skills and completion of a medical assistant/patient care program are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (graduate or equivalent).
• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program/equivalent with skills in venipuncture and EKG.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the Specialty Service.
• Documentation of Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate training.
• Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to set priorities, problem solve, use proper judgement in difficult situations and be flexible.
• Sufficient oral and writing skills in the English language in order to communicate effectively.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform a variety of tasks and skills in the area of assignment.
• American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS Certification (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Clinical/Technical/Service tasks as part of patient care.
• Performs and records vital signs and documents intake/output.
• Assists RN with procedures and patient mobility.
• Transports patients and delivers meals and supplies as needed.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and functional environment for patients.
• Answers call system, greets visitors, and maintains confidentiality.
