Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I to support patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse in clinic settings and inpatient units. The PCA I collaborates with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met, performing basic tasks and using medical terminology, communication, organizational and computer skills.

Minimum qualifications include High School diploma or GED, CNA or CMA certification, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent training.
• Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant certification.
• Basic Life Support (AHA) certification from a hospital-based program.
• One year of related clinical work experience preferred.
• SAMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Coordinate with charge nurse and staff to ensure patient needs are met.
• Demonstrate basic patient care skills, medical terminology, communication, organization and computer use.
• Adhere to patient safety measures and professional standards.
