Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional and technical nursing staff by performing vital signs, patient hygiene, and unit safety tasks. The role includes stocking supplies and basic clerical duties as directed.

Successful candidates will have basic medical terminology knowledge, English proficiency, and appropriate CNA/LVN certification or current enrollment in nursing programs with clinical exposure. Shift flexibility including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).

Responsibilities

• Taking and recording vital signs.
• Assisting patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stocking unit supplies and operating hospital equipment as directed.
• Performing routine clerical tasks and other related duties.
