Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff with vital signs, hygiene assistance, and patient care in a busy unit. The role involves stocking supplies, operating hospital equipment, and completing clerical tasks to keep the unit running smoothly.

The ideal candidate will have CNA or LVN training, current BLS, and the ability to work weekends/holidays, with strong English communication and basic medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrates patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).
• Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs, assisting professional staff as needed.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Assist with stocking unit supplies and operating hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with other related duties as assigned.
