Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System – Med PCU, Day shift, located on the Parkland campus. Provides basic hygiene care, vital signs and supportive nursing tasks under RN supervision to deliver patient-centered care.

Requirements include completion of a formal nurse aide course or CNA certification, current Heartsaver CPR within 90 days, and strong communication with patients and teammates. Enrollment in or graduation from an accredited nursing program is also acceptable.

Qualifications

• Must hold a formal nurse aide course or CNA certification.
• CPR certification (Heartsaver) within 90 days.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
• Experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specified patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including basic hygiene care, unsterile treatments, vital signs, and range of motion exercises.
• Lifts, ambulates, and feeds patients in a patient-centered manner while maintaining quality care.
• Serves as a patient advocate by acknowledging needs and respecting patient rights and confidentiality.
• Notates and records care activities (vital signs, ambulation, feeding outcomes) accurately.
• Maintains sanitation, infection control, safety, and equipment readiness; reports deficiencies.
• Escorts patients, coordinates translation services when applicable, and supports staff to ensure optimal care.
