Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support registered nurses in daily patient care within an inpatient setting in Chicago, IL. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, documentation in the EMR, and basic patient transport and equipment management.

The position requires Basic Life Support and a state nurse aide registry clearance, with high school or GED completion. Training and ongoing education are provided to meet hospital standards.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with basic computer tasks and EMR/documentation.
• Clear and effective communication, both oral and written.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize.
• Compliance with certification/additional education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care activities (bathing, feeding, mobility).
• Record vital signs and input/output in EMR as directed.
• Conduct RN-guided rounds and communicate patient/family needs.
• Aid in admission, transfer and discharge processes and maintain patient belongings.
• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care tests as indicated.
• Run errands, manage stock in nursing area, and clean equipment.
• Assist with patient positioning, transfers, and nutrition-related tasks.
• Support skin care and keep special supplies ready (TED hose, etc.).
• Assist with IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans as required.
