Job summary

*This in Stuart, VA is seeking a Patient Access Associate- PRN to perform patient registration, verify insurance, and collect out-of-pocket amounts at service time. The role supports the Revenue Cycle team and requires strong communication and empathy.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, experience in hospital/clinic settings is preferred, and proficiency with health information systems and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Experience in a hospital, medical office, or clinic setting preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare and payer coordination policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a professional image and demonstrates service excellence with every encounter.
• Accurately collects and enters patient demographic and insurance information into the health information system.
• Requests patient photo ID and insurance cards at time of service and scans to the encounter record.
• Verifies insurance eligibility for defined date of services.
• Ensures prior authorization for services as required by the payer is documented in the patient record.
• Estimates patient out of pocket liability and collects amounts at time of service.
• Schedules appointments for patient services in the hospital information system.
• Conducts bedside registration in the ED following EMTALA regulations.
• Provides patients with information about financial assistance and refers to financial counselor.
