Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative I to support front office operations in a hospital or clinic setting. You will pre-register patients, verify insurance information, and collect payments, while maintaining a patient-centered attitude and complying with HIPAA.

The role requires strong customer service skills and experience in healthcare office settings, with potential travel to on-campus and off-campus locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years in customer service preferred.
• 2 years in a clinical/medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-register/register patients for scheduled/unscheduled services within hospital-based areas.
• Interview patients to obtain demographic/insurance information and verify records.
• Obtain copies of identification and insurance cards.
• Document information in the registration system per standards.
• Coordinate insurance verification and determine financial obligation.
• Collect co-payments, deductibles, and balances following policy.
• Deliver superior customer service and maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
