Job summary

Infinite Legacy seeks an Organ Family Services Coordinator I to compassionately engage families at the optimal time to discuss organ donation. You will lead authorization conversations, document discussions, and coordinate with hospital partners and the Aftercare team to provide ongoing support.

The role emphasizes empathy, regulatory alignment, and seamless transitions from donation through aftercare, with travel within the donor service area and a rotating on-call schedule.

Qualifications

• Education in nursing, social work, psychology, counseling, or related healthcare field preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience in acute healthcare setting, hospice, bereavement counseling center, crisis intervention, etc. with active involvement in death, dying, grief and loss.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly to donor referrals, guiding families through donation discussions with compassion, professionalism, and integrity.
• Establishes initial contact with the potential donor family and advocates for organ/tissue donation through trauma and grief-informed discussions.
• Collaborates with hospital partners to strengthen trust and maintain relationships.
• Ensures the family’s understanding and comfort throughout the authorization process with clear, sensitive communication.
• Partners with Aftercare to ensure seamless transition and ongoing support for donor families and bereavement services.
• Completes all necessary documentation within regulatory timeframes.
• Works with Infinite Legacy staff and funeral homes during local organ/tissue cases and coordinates with clinical personnel.
• Initiates follow-up support to donor and non-donor families within regulatory timeframes.
• Offers the option of organ and tissue donation in accordance with state, federal and industry regulations.
• Attends staff meetings and responds to emails within 24 hours on call; stays flexible for staffing needs.
