Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in patient care. You will take vital signs, assist with hygiene and elimination, and help maintain a safe, clean unit while supporting clerical tasks and supply management.

Successful candidates will have basic medical terminology knowledge, be fluent in English, and hold or be enrolled in a CNA program with at least one clinical semester; current BLS certification is required, and weekend/holiday

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Certified Nursing Assistant or enrolled in accredited nursing program with at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• CNAs hired before May 2010 without CNA certification are not required to obtain it now.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic manner.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (AHA).
• Approved workplace violence responder training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stock unit supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with related duties as assigned.
