Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center is seeking a Night shift Patient Care Tech (PCT) to support nonprofessional direct patient care under RN supervision. The role includes assisting with admission, transfers, discharges, vital signs, hygiene, nutrition issues, and maintaining a safe environment in a fast-paced unit.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and BLS within 30 days of hire; prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
• Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to ensure safety of patients, visitors and staff.
• Reports necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
• Communicates with RN regarding nutrition issues and diet changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks and answers patient call bells.
