Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV seeks a patient care technician to support licensed staff in direct and indirect patient care, including comfort needs, during night hours.

Responsibilities include vitals, hygiene, specimen collection, and maintaining a safe, clean environment while coordinating with RNs and other medical staff.

Minimum: high school diploma, BLS within 30 days, and CNA or PT certification credentials; prior patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Must meet one of: nationally certified patient care technician; WVUM Patient Care Technician; current CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Assist RN with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist with hygiene and patient comfort; monitor intake/output.
• Assist in specimen collection and other patient care activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and protect patients, visitors, and staff.
• Report equipment repairs promptly according to procedure.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to RN and support diet changes.
• Assist department with administrative tasks and answer call bells.
