Job summary

MBK Senior Living in Blue Ash, OH is seeking a Medication Technician to document, deliver and administer medicines to residents with superior customer service and in compliance with all policies and regulations. The role includes assisting with daily medications, coordinating with pharmacies and physicians, and maintaining confidential records.

You will support caregivers in daily living activities, observe dosing, and participate in narcotic counts and safety drills.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Background clearances as required by government regulations
• Complete a health screening and provide negative TB test results
• Must maintain HIPAA compliance at all times

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and with the scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations.
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s).
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements.
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verifying dosages with physician prior to dispensing.
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance.
• Participate in narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting discrepancies to supervisor immediately.
• Assist caregivers in daily living activities and respond to resident needs promptly and kindly.
• Respond to resident alerts and emergencies as needed.
• Ensure resident safety and comfort and assist in fire or safety drills.
