Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, PAs, and NPs with patient care, clerical duties, and flow in a fast-paced clinic network in Purchase, NY. This role involves preparing exam rooms, updating patient information, and ensuring accurate documentation in EHR and PMS systems.

Responsibilities include handling vitals, medication lists, scheduling, and referrals while maintaining safety standards. Strong English communication and computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Graduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program, required.
• 0-1 year related work experience, required. 2-4 years related work experience, preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire, required.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required.
• Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, required.
• Basic proficiency in computer use, required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares examination room and escorts patient into the room.
• Maintains efficient patient flow.
• Prepares information needed for patient visit.
• Communicates & provides care aligned with patient’s age and cultural needs.
• Answers calls and takes accurate messages.
• Schedules appointments per guidelines.
• Stocks examination rooms with supplies.
• Orders and maintains supplies as assigned.
• Documents vitals and allergies in the EHR; refill procedures as needed.
• Enters orders and schedules appointments in the PMS and EHR.
• Provides referrals and/or consult orders in a timely manner.
• Adheres to universal safety precautions with medications.
• Maintains proficiency with department equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
• Performs scribing services as needed.
