Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide high-quality patient care in a team-based BIDHC model. The role includes clinical and administrative duties, patient flow management, and coordination of tests and referrals.

The ideal candidate will have 0–1 year MA experience, basic computer skills, and may hold MA certification, CNA, EMT, or Phlebotomy cert. This is a full-time, on-site position in the BIDHC setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s in Health Science preferred.
• MA licenses/certifications preferred (MA Cert, CNA, EMT, or Phlebotomy Cert).
• 0–1 year related work experience required.
• Demonstrated MA competencies within one year of hire.
• Basic familiarity with computers and web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop empathetic relationships with patients and families to support care.
• Assist during visits: manage flow, communicate delays, update meds/allergies.
• Provide clear hand-offs between patient and provider.
• Perform MA duties under supervision: vitals, EKGs, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, immunizations, assist procedures.
• Lead population health outreach and health coaching to meet quality goals.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensure sterility and proper storage.
• Use EHR to queue prescriptions and schedule tests; document visits for billing.
• Schedule diagnostics and labs; verify insurance, referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Identify OSHA compliance issues and ensure PHI is protected.
